Friday fun: Can we fix it? Yes we can!

Not sure if your CV cuts the mustard or will float the recruiter’s boat? Want to get feedback on your personal statement to make sure it’s a statement not a story, and it’s personal but not too personal? Unsure if your application is applicable, or your covering letter covers everything?

Come along to a drop-in session at the Careers and Employability Service. One of our friendly advisers can:

  • Give you some feedback on your CV, application form, covering letter, or personal statement.
  • Provide you with hints and tips on how and where to look for jobs
  • Discuss interview techniques and questions
  • Help you apply for further study

“Can you find me a job?”

We can give you the tools to help you in your job search, and to improve your applications, but cannot give you a job. You can register with a recruitment agency if you would like them to find work on your behalf.

“If I tell you what I’ve done, can you write my CV for me?”

In short, no. We will review your CV as often as you like (within reason!) and will guide you on how to structure it, and what to include.

“I don’t need to think about my career now, I’m only in my first year.”

The sooner you start to plan your career, the better prepared you will be when you start to look for a graduate job. Get ahead of the game and use the free services available to you whilst you’re at university!
