The CV competition is back! Win work experience

The Careers and Employability Service CV Competition is back for a second year running with work placement opportunities on offer with seven local organisations. Competition entry is open to all students.

To be in with a chance of winning simply send your CV, along with an explanation of why you are interested in your chosen placement and answers to some reflective questions about the ways in which your degree course has helped you to develop certain skills. The organisations will then be sent the CV’s and asked to choose a winner. To view the placement opportunities and questions please click here.

Last year there were over 70 applications, with two employers so impressed with the level of entries that they decided to not only choose a winner, but also to offer runner up work placement prizes. The employers’ feedback from last year was that they thought the CVs entered were generally of a good level, and that they particularly liked the students who had done their research on the company and expressed why they were specifically interested in winning a work placement with them. Students were also very positive about the competition with one of our winners commenting:

“From winning the CV competition I gained an invaluable experience working for a small but expanding company (Simply Ice Cream) it helped me put into practice skills I had learnt at Kent into a real business. I am so grateful for the experience, I had a great time and it is brilliant to add to my CV. Definitely enter because you never know where it might lead!”

Competition entry is open from now until March. For full details visit the competition website page.
