Whilst studying, many students have to turn to work to support themselves. Working in entry level jobs and having little experience of employment can leave many students and young people at risk of exploitation.
The National Union of Students believes that all students should have the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, regardless of their background.
They believe that the expectation for young people to work for free for long periods in order to gain experience is exploitative and blocks those from less wealthy backgrounds out of some professions.
They want the next government to introduce and enforce legislation that all work experience of over four weeks should be paid.
What are your views? Students can also go to nus.org.uk/shareyourstories and fill in the online form to anonymously share a story of work exploitation.
